Hello everyone! Sorry it’s taken us so long, but we are officially up and running! And believe us, camp is running on full gears! Now, to get you guys up to speed:
We kicked the summer off with the former counselors, Will Jones and Emma Mitchell who returned to bring a magical twist to camp with their Harry Potter session. That week, the campers got sorted into their Hogwarts houses and from their, played games (including Harry Potter favorite, Quidditch and water games!), won house points, had our own Yule Ball while celebrating Christmas, had a mass foot washing down by the pool followed by a surprise ice cream party, as well as learning the importance of love, knowledge, truth and peace are all important pieces that make up Agandi.
We also had some new additions added to our lovely little camp including a labyrinth that was put in the chapel by session staff, as well as a snow-cone machine at the Canteen! And at the rate this summer heat is going, the snow cone machine is going to be put to good use! Speaking of new additions, our new batch of counselors have been doing some amazing work with all of the kiddos this week, so quick shout out to them. Keep up the amazing work guys, you’re doing great!
The next week we had the return of the one and only, Greg Stark, another returning counselor. He, and his session staff introduced the idea of Saints and Superheroes to the Primary campers, That week, we talked about the basic ideas of how our setting, character, conflicts and resolutions shape us, and how we can all become superheroes in Christ. We heard the stories of David and Goliath, Mary Magdalene, and Jesus and the Fishermen. To wrap up the week, we had our morning chapel service down by Canterburry Lake, where we reenacted the Jesus and Fishermen story, as well as having a mini fish fry!
This week, we are discussing the Occupy Hope movement with our fantastic Session director Ann Pollard and her incredible session staff. So far, we’ve talked about how hope serves as an anchor for us as well as different ways to choose hope, live hope, seek it and share it. It’s been a great camp so far, so be sure to stay tuned for more great camp news! We’ll be keeping you all posted!
